Welcome to Virginia Medical Plans’ enrollment guide for 2017 Optima Health plans.
Optima Health plans are available if you live in one of the following cities of Virginia:
- Norfolk
- Virginia Beach
- Chesapeake
- Portsmouth
The plans are non-gated HMO plans. This means you do not need a referral to see a specialist. However, there are no out-of-network benefits (except for true emergency care — “life and limb”).
OFF exchange (not subsidy-eligible), there will be one gold, one silver, and one bronze level plan. The bronze plan is HSA-compatible.
ON exchange (subsidy-eligible), there will be one gold plan and one bronze plan.
